Itinerary
INCA TRAIL MACHUPICCHU 4 DAYS 3 NIGHTS
Day 1: Cusco – Km 82 – Wayllabamba
Pick up from your hotel (5:00 – 5:30 am.) On our transport to go to Piskacuchu (2700 masl) or a community located on Km 82 of Cusco – Machu Picchu of the railway, starting point of the Inca Trail. We begin our walk across the bridge over the Urubamba River and we will walk a long flat road, to Miskay (2800 m.a.s.l.), and from there climb to the town of Llactapata (2650 m.a.s.l.). to finally arrive in 6 hours approx. to Wayllabamba (3000 m.a.s.l.), where it will be our first camp.
Day 2: Wayllabamba – Llulluchapampa – Pacaymayo
We woke up around 6:00 a.m. and after breakfast, we start the most difficult part of the hike, we will climb the Llulluchapampa valley 9 km. Throughout this valley the scenery changes abruptly from sierra to puna. The road will lead us to the first Warmihuañusca pass (Dead Woman’s Pass – 4225 m.s.n.m./ 13776 feet), we will see domesticated llamas and alpacas that walk on the ichu (straw), some plants and animals such as the Eyeglasses and deer Bear. Crossing the Pacaymayo cloudy valley (3600 m.a.s.l.), where we will camp.

Day 3: Pacaymayo – Wiñaywayna
This day is the longest but also the most interesting, the number of archeological sites and the cloud forest that we will cross. We leave Pacaymayo early to the second step, the Abra of Runkurakay (3970m.s.n.m.). Halfway we stop to visit the archaeological complex with the same name, This site located at 3800 m.a.s.l. It consists of a small oval structure. After going over the pass, we descend towards Yanacocha and enter the cloud forest, to reach Sayacmarca (3624 m.a.s.l.) definitely. This is a beautiful complex formed by a semicircular construction, we will pass the Inca tunnel and then we will arrive at the third pass at the Abra de Phuyupatamarca (3700 m.a.s.l.).
Along this road we can appreciate the magnitude of the Inca power, Phuyupatamarca (town above the clouds). We continue our descent by a stone path that leads to Wiñaywayna (2650 m.a.s.l.), Inca complex formed by numerous agricultural terraces, place of our camp. We will have a bar and hot shower baths. Farewell dinner at our camp.
Day 4: Wiñaywayna – Machupicchu – Cusco
We get up at 4.00 a.m. to leave Wiñaywayna and in 1 hour to reach Inti Punku (gate of the sun) along the path of flat stones on the edge of the mountainous jungle, we could see the sunrise in Inti Punku or Puerta del Sol (2750 masl), in a 45 min average We will descend from the mentioned place to the Machu Picchu Sanctuary. Continuing the descent to the control where we checked in and left our backpacks.
We will start a complete guided tour of the Inca Sanctuary for 2 hours approx. Then you will have free time at your disposal. If you want to climb the mountain of Huayna Picchu (check with our agency there are only 400 tickets per day). In the afternoon, we will meet in the town of Aguas Calientes where you will have the option to visit the thermal baths, then return to Cusco.
